BIO: MICROPANiK is a Montreal-based indie electronic rock outfit. They released their first electronica album, F.O.M., in 2012 which reached the charts of various Canadian college radio stations, and even reached !earshot’s Top 200, the national campus and community radio report. In 2013, the arrival of a new permanent contributor behind the drums for the recording sessions brought a new sound to the band. It is now more rock oriented and emphasizes on a fuzzy bass, big rock drums, and dirty analog synthesizers. MICROPANiK released Arbos EP in 2015 and was again able to gain attention from independent radio stations from coast to coast and from North American media: “The result is something partly organic, partly synthetic. But it is all high energy and exciting” (Ride The Tempo). Playing with contrasts and opposites (micro vs panik, organic vs digital, vocal vs instrumental, atmospheric vs loud), the band releases Materia in 2017, an opus with post-apocalyptic vibes. Thanks to this album made out of sessions using non-music related objects, they had the pleasure to play a jam-packed Junction City Music Hall, a mythical venue in Toronto. “Quebec has become a hotbed for heavy, heaving rock. Now add this Montreal project, who also mixes electronica and avant-garde into their muscular music” (The Big Takeover Magazine - Brooklyn). Their fourth endeavour, Early Days… Et Démos, is born as part of the International Cassette Store Day 2018 along with bands such as Anthrax, Nada Surf, and Death From Above. In 2019, JS Vaillancourt, the guy behind MICRO, immersed himself in the creation of a slightly humorous EP in order to break free from inner demons. Black Noël is released in 2020.

En 2013, le style du groupe change avec l’arrivée d’un collaborateur permanent derrière les fûts pour les sessions d’enregistrement. Le son fornique dorénavant avec le rock et l’accent est alors mis sur l’amalgame d’une basse «fuzzée», de grosses batteries et de synthétiseurs analogues crasseux. MICROPANiK réalise Arbos EP en 2015 et attire de nouveau l’attention des radios indépendantes pancanadiennes, celle de médias nord-américains: «The result is something partly organic, partly synthetic. Fidèle à l’idée d’origine de jouer avec les contrastes (micro vs panik, organique vs digital, vocal vs instrumental, atmosphérique vs bruyant), la troupe pousse le concept d’un cran et lance Materia en 2017, un ouvrage aux résonances post-apocalyptiques. Réalisé à partir de sessions d’enregistrement d’objets, d’éléments du quotidien et non musicaux, l’album leur permet d’aller jouer dans une salle comble à Toronto au mythique Junction City Music Hall. «Quebec has become a hotbed for heavy, heaving rock. En 2019, JS Vaillancourt, le gars derrière MICRO, se plonge dans la création d’un EP plein d’humour dans le but de se libérer des démons du passé. Black Noël est lancé en 2020.
